Profile: The Visvesvaraya Industrial
Trade Centre, VITC, is the designated Nodal Agency of the state
for promotion of International Trade from Karnataka. Registered
under the Karnataka Societies Act, it is supervised and regulated
by an autonomous body constituted
by the Government of Karnataka.
VITC
is named after one of the architects of modern Karnataka, Bharataratna
Late Sir M.Visvesvaraya, who was instrumental in the industrialisation
of the state. Formally inaugurated by the then Prime Minister, Late
Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri, VITC has been operational since 23rd July,
1965.
In addition to these, VITC also provides escort services, helps
in redressal of grievances and assists in implementation/co-ordinating
the implementation of various Trade Promotion Schemes in Karnataka
State.
